The Witcher 3 Remastered system requirements will show you how radiant Roach can be on your rig

Take a moment to feel for poor old Roach, because today's launch of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered will soon see the faithful horse carting Geralt of Rivia travel for hundreds more hours. Roach isn't the only one with a new burden, though, because the updated visuals mean an all-new set of PC specs for The Witcher 3 Remastered that your PC will have to handle.

As such, developer CD Projekt Red has released a new sheet covering the requirements for the Recommended, Ultra, RT Minimum, RT Recommended, and Path Tracing settings for the new version (which arrives as a free update for those who already own the game). That RT stands for (fancy) ray tracing lighting, for those less familiar with visual tech. Path tracing is the shiniest new toy out there, for those looking to hit the absolute highest visual quality possible for Geralt's stubble.

It's worth noting that, even with a seriously beefy PC, the path tracing specs are measured with upscaling and frame generation enabled. A solid-state drive is also now essential "to support the game's latest technical enhancements." It's also worth a reminder that all specs are detailed for Windows 11, with CD Projekt Red stating that Windows 10 will no longer be supported, though the game will still run on the older OS.

If The Witcher 3 Remaster specs are already causing your computer to creak and groan at the very notion of path tracing, fear not. CD Projekt Red notes that, platform allowing, it will be "possible to revert to an earlier version of the game," which will now be listed as Classic.
