Diablo 4's most sought-after unique item has just been found, giving a huge buff to your builds

Ever since Diablo 4 Season 15 began, players have been on the hunt for one particularly elusive unique item. Annihilus, a special Horadric seal that dataminers found lurking in the action RPG's files, promised seemingly outrageous stats that could make just about any build you could think of stronger, regardless of your chosen class. It managed to elude discovery for some time, but in the wake of the most recent Diablo 4 update it's now finally begun to appear, and the good news is that you don't have to fight over it.

The Season of Hell's Legacy has been a real fiesta of secrets. We've seen everything from a nostalgic trip back to where the series began, to what might finally be the end of the long-running Lucky Coin quest chain. Until now, however, the Annihilus seal had remained a mystery. That all changed when Diablo 4 players suddenly began reporting a special encounter that they'd been thrown into after defeating a world boss.

As the fight finishes, a message flashes up on screen reading "Diablo walks the Earth." Mere seconds later, the group of players is faced with a second battle, this time against 'Echo of Uber Diablo, The Dark Lord.' You can see the encounter below courtesy of 'Tobias' on YouTube, and it doesn't last long - perhaps Blizzard simply wanted this to be a fun anniversary extra, or maybe they didn't account for quite how strong players would already have become this far into the season.

Upon clearing the fight, Annihilus drops on the floor, and it's every bit as ridiculous as expected. The stat ranges include 10% to 20% bonus to all stats, 10% to 20% resistance against all elements, +5 to +10 to all skills, and 5% to 10% extra experience. On top of that, it appears to be able to roll two different set bonuses. It might not be flashy, but those beefy raw numbers are hard to argue with.

You can then use the Horadric Cube in Temis to reroll its stats up to ideal values. Annihilus is also initially tradable, although this is locked if you choose to reroll it. The stat line makes it a pretty easy inclusion in most builds, save for some very specific edge cases that you might run into. Because it's a seal, you're even free to use it alongside the unique Hellfire Torch charm earned through the hidden Deckard Cain quest.

Players who have taken part in the fight also report that Annihilus dropped for lots of people who were present at the time, so it seems to be pretty widespread when it triggers. Exactly what causes the fight is still a mystery for now, however. Speculation has been rife that it's tied to the Stone of Jordan unique ring, either through wearing it or salvaging it, because it's the item that would invoke Uber Diablo back in Diablo 2.

It might be disappointing to hear that there's no clear answer for what spawns the fight yet, but don't feel too disheartened, because the number of confirmed reports of the Uber Diablo fight and subsequent Annihilus drop have skyrocketed in the past 24 hours. Whether a manual switch has been flipped on the backend, or a secret community milestone was reached, it seems quite likely that you'll run into this soon enough if you seek out world boss spawns.

Check another Season 15 secret off the cards, then, and one of the few remaining that were known about but unsolved. At this point the only questions remaining are exactly what caused this fight to start appearing, and whether there's anything else left to discover in the Season of Hell's Legacy. At this rate, we probably won't be waiting much longer to find out.
