How do you get a dog in Crimson Desert? In the city, during the festivities, you're given a mission to take in a stray dog. Even though this is part of the main quest, we would have done it anyway, as all dogs are good, and we want all the dogs. The method of getting the pooch on side is a bit obscure, however, so here's an explainer on how to do it.

There are many important missions Kliff has to complete in Crimson Desert, from defeating the frustrating and powerful Tenebrum boss to solving the mystery of Glenbright Manor. There is one mission that is perhaps more important than any other, though, and that's taking in the stray dog. Here's how to do it so you can have a best friend wherever you go.

How to get a dog in Crimson Desert

After being introduced to the stray, you're told that building up trust with an animal will allow you to take them in as a pet. It also tells you that doing certain actions over and over again will only gain so much trust, so if you stand there and pet the dog all day (which is fair), it won't get you to the level required to take them in.

What you need to do is take some of the lean meat you just purchased during the mission from your inventory, put it in your hand, and place it on the floor next to the dog. The dog will then chomp on the free meal, and you will gain a huge amount of trust. Three pieces of meat and some pets are enough to claim the dog as your own, where it will accompany you everywhere. Lovely stuff.

Now that you have a four-legged friend, it's probably time to take on a couple of tougher challenges. Check out our guides on fast travel and also skill points if you want to extend your reach in this world, and get a bit more powerful while you're at it.
