How to get the Hollow Knight Silksong Needle upgrade
Here’s how to get the Silksong Needle upgrade and do more weapon damage against regular enemies and bosses with Hornet's trusty blade.

The Needle analogous to the Nail in Hollow Knight, and without it, you wouldn't stand a chance of making it out of Pharloom alive. As a result, getting a Needle upgrade is a top priority.
You might find that enemies in Hollow Knight Silksong are taking one too many hips to defeat than you'd like, especially once you begin to encounter more formidable Silksong bosses. While the earliest sections of the Silksong map can be cleared relatively easily, getting Silksong Needle upgrades is the best way to make your time in the Metroidvania game a lot easier in the long term. Trust us, clearing trash mobs in two hits is a lot faster than five.
How to upgrade Needle
To upgrade Needle, speak to Pinmaster Plinney in Bellhart after you defeat the Widow boss.
You can find Plinney in the bellhouse on the right suspended over the bench, marked by three white pins above the door. Keep in mind that you need to save Bellhart before you can access this area.
All Needle upgrades
There are three Silksong Needle upgrades. The first upgrade is the Sharpened Needle, which Plinney offers once you speak to him after beating the Silksong Widow.
The final three upgrades require you to find all the Silksong Pale Oil and deliver them to Plinney as part of the Pinmaster's Oil side quest. Needle upgrades apply a base damage boost that extends to skills like the Silkspear.
