Plans have been lodged for a €2.4 million community care facility in Allenwood Middle, Allenwood, Co Kildare, marking a significant investment in local support and training services.

The proposal, submitted by Simplicitas Ltd, involves the demolition of all existing structures on the site and the construction of a new two-storey Community Care Support and Training Facility.

The development will provide dedicated spaces for training, support services and community use, with no residential care element included in the plans. Designers say the scheme is focused entirely on daytime services, skills development and community engagement.

Associated works will include the provision of a new public footpath to the front of the site, along with upgrades to the existing road access, including a widened vehicular entrance and a new pedestrian access point.

The project also includes the provision of car parking facilities, external lighting, landscaping, boundary treatments and a full range of site infrastructure works to support the new building.

Planning documents confirm that the development is designed to improve accessibility and safety for both pedestrians and vehicles, while integrating the facility into the surrounding village environment.

A design team led by Furey Consulting Engineers Ltd has prepared the plans, with input from a range of specialists including transport, lighting, drainage and environmental consultants.

The application, submitted in March 2026, is now under consideration by Kildare County Council.

If approved, the facility is expected to provide enhanced community support services for residents in Allenwood and surrounding areas, alongside training opportunities aimed at local groups and service users.
