Chelsea are keeping a close eye on Como midfielder Lucas Da Cunha after the Frenchman’s impressive rise in Serie A and recent international breakthrough.
The 25-year-old has developed into an important figure for the Italian club since joining from Nice in 2023, with his versatility and technical ability making him a valuable part of their midfield.
Lucas Da Cunha attracts Premier League interest
According to Hooligan Soccer, Chelsea, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest are among the English clubs monitoring Da Cunha, while Manchester United, Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Brighton have also been linked with an interest in the midfielder. Chelsea’s interest is believed to have existed before his recent call-up to the France squad.
Da Cunha’s profile has risen considerably after being handed his senior international debut under Zinedine Zidane. He featured in France’s victory over Belgium, giving him the chance to show his qualities on a much bigger stage.
Como have already recognised his importance to their project. The midfielder signed a contract extension with the club, and Como confirmed he had committed his future after making significant progress since arriving. Cesc Fabregas previously praised his adaptability, versatility and tactical intelligence.
Da Cunha could attract a major offer
The midfielder’s emergence has naturally drawn more attention from clubs in England, particularly as several teams look to add creativity and flexibility to their midfield options.
Chelsea are reportedly considering their options ahead of the January transfer window, while Manchester United are also keeping tabs on the situation. Manchester United have recently invested in multiple midfielders, and a move to Chelsea would make more sense for the French international.
Como are under no immediate pressure to sell their captain, meaning interested clubs could face a difficult negotiation if they decide to make a formal approach.
Da Cunha still has plenty of room to develop, but his recent performances have already placed him firmly on the radar of clubs across Europe. A strong season at Como could further boost his value and reputation.
