Woman's first-ever $5 lottery ticket earns $200,000 prize
by Ben Hooper · UPIMay 8 (UPI) -- A North Carolina woman bought a $5 scratch-off lottery ticket for the very first time and ended up winning a $200,000 prize.
Greensboro resident Nicole Hodges told North Carolina Education Lottery officials she has played other lottery games in the past, but her recent visit to the Shikotare Express Mart on Randleman Road in Greensboro marked her first time buying a $5 scratch-off.
"I've never bought a $5 ticket but I just randomly picked it because it was new and it was pretty," Hodges said. "And look what five dollars turned into."
The ticker, a Diamonds and Dollars game, was a $200,000 top prize winner.
"I about passed out," Hodges said of the moment she revealed the prize.
Hodges said her prize money will be invested into a food truck business with her husband.
