Daedong targets agricultural physical AI in value-up plan

May 7 (Asia Today) -- Daedong Group and its listed affiliates unveiled a long-term value-up plan Thursday centered on agricultural physical artificial intelligence, robotics and recurring platform-based revenue.

The plan was disclosed by Daedong, Daedong Gear and Daedong Metals, the group's three listed companies.

Daedong said it aims to move beyond traditional farm machinery manufacturing by linking autonomous AI-powered agricultural equipment and robots with subscription-based agricultural services.

The company plans to expand its dealer network in North America and Europe to more than 1,700 locations by 2030 and raise the share of new business revenue to 25.9%.

Through the strategy, Daedong is targeting consolidated sales of 3.59 trillion won, or about $2.6 billion, and a return on equity of 20% by 2030.

Daedong Gear plans to modularize its electric vehicle parts business and enter the market for robot reducers and actuators. The affiliate set a 2030 sales target of 1 trillion won, or about $730 million.

Daedong Metals plans to expand into high-value casting businesses, including semiconductor and defense components, while developing advanced materials for AI data centers.

The three companies also plan to gradually raise their dividend payout ratios to about 20% by 2030 to enhance shareholder value.

They will also build a C-suite-led investor relations system and expand communication with domestic and overseas investors to strengthen investor confidence.

"This plan is an execution strategy for transforming our business structure around AI and robotics," said Na Young-joong, Daedong Group's vice president for corporate management. "We will continue to increase corporate value by creating a virtuous cycle in which management performance leads to shareholder returns."
