July 5 (UPI) -- A seaplane crash landed into the East River in New York City on Sunday and at least two people are being evaluated for minor injuries.

There were 10 people aboard the Kodiak 100 seaplane when it landed in the river at about noon. The New York Fire Department responded to the crash and removed people from the plane.

The seaplane came down near the marina on East 23rd Street and FDR Drive in Manhattan. It has since been towed, fire department officials said.

The Federal Aviation Administration reported Sunday that the crash landing caused a wing strut to snap.

Where the plane originated from has not been made public as of Sunday morning.

Sunday's crash landing is the second in the East River in less than a month. About three weeks ago, a seaplane crashed near Whitestone, Queens. No one was injured in that crash.
