The show airs weekly after BBC Breakfast on Saturday mornings, and prides itself on being "a weekend food show full of mouth-watering food, great chefs and celebrity guests." The show airs from 9.30am on Saturday mornings on BBC One and Iplayer.

Others defended the show, though, with another typing: "What a great start to a Saturday. Paul Whitehouse on @SaturdayKitchen. A national treasure." But another sniped: "Same old guests! how about Vanessa paradis or Helen Skelton??"

Another commented: "#SaturdayKitchen and they've got a couple of sausages in a pan. I don't like the look of those sausages. They look like grandads legs." Replying to the show's official handle, another said: "Lovely!!!! This week I've been pickling shallots. Have made 6 x 1 litre kilner jars each with a different flavouring! Will find out in approx 4 to 6 weeks how they taste. Next week pumpkin chutney!!!!!"

On its Twitter page, Saturday Kitchen has been busy promoting the recipes from today's show. "Bangers & mash anyone?" it asked.
