BBC Saturday Kitchen fans have said they "feel sorry for Matt Tebbutt" after spotting who the guests were today. The BBC show saw Matt joined by chefs Tom Parker Bowles and Dina Macki, and by special guest Paul Whitehouse.

Drinks expert Helen McGinn picks the wines to go with the studio dishes. One wrote: "She’s annoying, digging almost every time she opens her mouth #saturdaykitchen" A second said: "I feel for Matt Tebbutt, he has to work with some truly insufferable guests and chefs on #saturdaykitchen and he's dealing with more than his fair share of them this morning."

The show airs weekly after BBC Breakfast on Saturday mornings, and prides itself on being "a weekend food show full of mouth-watering food, great chefs and celebrity guests." The show airs from 9.30am on Saturday mornings on BBC One and Iplayer.

Others defended the show, though, with another typing: "What a great start to a Saturday. Paul Whitehouse on @SaturdayKitchen. A national treasure." But another sniped: "Same old guests! how about Vanessa paradis or Helen Skelton??"

Another commented: "#SaturdayKitchen and they've got a couple of sausages in a pan. I don't like the look of those sausages. They look like grandads legs." Another wrote: "@SaturdayKitchen #SaturdayKitchen Instead of pumpkin use mutton and and put the curry in a hollowed out loaf of bread and you get the South African dish Bunny Chow."

Replying to the show's official handle, another said: "Lovely!!!! This week I've been pickling shallots. Have made 6 x 1 litre kilner jars each with a different flavouring! Will find out in approx 4 to 6 weeks how they taste. Next week pumpkin chutney!!!!!"

On its Twitter page, Saturday Kitchen has been busy promoting the recipes from today's show. "Bangers & mash anyone?" it asked. Posting alongside a snap, it said: "If you want the recipe for Matt’s sausages with lentils, braised bacon and poached egg, click here https://bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/sausages_braised_lentils_98613…
