American tourist visits Wetherspoons for first time and spots 'ridiculous' menu detail
An American tourist, who was visiting the UK, recently took a trip to a Wetherspoons boozer and was left stunned by one detail he spotted on the famous pub chain's menu
by Matt Davies, https://www.facebook.com/MattDaviesJournalist/ · Birmingham LiveAn American tourist has been left gobsmacked by his first ever outing to a Wetherspoons pub in the UK.
Joel, the American YouTuber behind the ItsJps channel, renowned for his UK-focused content, recently stopped by York and decided to take on a quintessentially British challenge - a trip to a Wetherspoons pub, eager to discover what the hyped-up pub chain is all about.
His visit threw up a surprise as he browsed through the menu, deeming the price of a classic curry with a drink at £10.60 as "ridiculous". He said: "To get a classic curry with an alcoholic drink is £10.60. That right there is ridiculous, in my opinion. I have to see what...obviously, it's not going to be like the best curry you've ever had."
Despite his disbelief at the curry deal, he acknowledged: "I mean, that's a deal. A meal and a drink for 10 quid. In today's economy, that sounds pretty good."
Post-visit, Joel shared his thoughts: "Alright guys; I've finished up with my first Wetherspoons experience. Overall, I enjoyed it..." He added that he only had a few drinks and there wasn't much to base his judgment on due to the absence of music or televisions. "There was nothing in there but three slot machines so definitely geared towards profit from an entertainment perspective, but overall, I thought it was really nice."
This isn't Joel's first time sampling life in Britain - it's actually his second, and on both occasions, hes found himself surprised by some British ways, reports the Mirror.
Joel, who found the UK's public transport system "impressive", was equally taken with the pubs, which he described as community "focal" points.
He remarked: "The pub is a place you can just go and talk to your neighbour, get to know your neighbour and just enjoy a pint. It's not really about the partying as much as it is the sense of community and having the Sunday roast and things like that."
Additionally, Joel observed a high number of people vaping among his peers, but on a brighter note, he developed a fondness for the iconic Tesco Meal Deal, which became a daily treat during his stay in the UK.
