Drivers left mind-blown after discovering hidden feature on car – and it's handy

by · Birmingham Live

You'd think after a few days of owning a new car, you know pretty much everything about it.

From all the snazzy specs to the gadgets you get to use, it can be fun picking up the keys to your new vehicle. But now one person has been left mind-blown after only just discovering a hidden feature – and it's taken "45 years to learn".

Over on Instagram, user @amintips, who boasts 107,000 fans, was floored after spotting a place to put your hub cap when filling petrol. In the clip, the poster can be seen opening up the cap and then placing it in a little slot on the cover of the car.

So instead of it dangling while you fill up your vehicle with fuel, it can be nestled safely in the spot until you finish the task. The caption read: "Follow me @amintips for more tips! Did you know this about your car?"

Since it was shared, the post garnered thousands of likes and comments. One said: "I'm 30 and still didn't know." While another added: "Omg I never knew."

But other people on Instagram seem to be amazed at how the user didn't know. Someone wrote: "Slow learner," as a second chimed in: "Took you 45 years to learn something everybody else figured out the first time of asking?"

A third pointed out: "All cars are different. So check your own first." Then a fourth added: "Learn your car when you get it."

Looking for more driving tips? Previously, a motoring expert revealed five steps to improve your skills behind the wheel. Alongside the video, the TikTok user teased: "Five steps to teach you how to drive."

She added: "1. Apply the brakes. 2. Start the car. 3. Shift to D position (if you're driving an automatic). 4. Release the handbrake. 5. Step on the accelerator."

At first glance, these tips might look like driving 101, but what follows is a clever trick to help you glide out of parking spaces without grazing the vehicle beside you.

By waiting until your passenger door is in line with the neighbouring car, you can steer left or right without fear of a collision.
