Sunday Brunch viewers 'switch off' as they beg Channel 4 guest to 'calm down' after outburst

Sunday Brunch fans were left unimpressed with today's (September 29) line-up, with many vowing to switch off after seeing the cast which included Lulu and Craig David

Sunday Brunch viewers were united in their complaint, resulting in many switching off the show on Channel 4.

Disappointed fans took to X - known to many as Twitter - to express their disapproval of today's (September 29) guest list. Despite the presence of stars such as Lulu, Craig David, Chris Chung, Alexandra Roach and Wings of Desire, the selection did not win favour with the audience online.

Although some praised singing sensation Lulu, hinting at a potential damehood, others found her exuberant demeanour too much to handle this early in the day and vowed to turn off their TVs, imploring her to "calm down".

The controversy started soon after the show began as Lulu recounted her childhood experiences, notably a time when her family had limited means, leading her to mention that her Scottish father "could only afford to buy half bottle of whiskey", before switching to an accent that viewers didn't appreciate.

One viewer tweeted: "How many accents has Lulu got? #sundaybrunch," whereas another remarked: "Lulu needs to calm down on #sundaybrunch. It's too early for any of her accents", reports OK!.

Additional tweets read: "Lulu and Craig David are the guests on #sundaybrunch today so I'm giving it a miss," and "What an absolutely p***-poor lineup today. Turning off #SundayBrunch."

Further Twitter reactions included: "#sundaybrunch @sundaybrunch Lulu is the only one I have heard of and they had better let her shout," along with "B****y Lulu," and one particularly frustrated viewer declared: "Oh f*** off."

A few weeks ago, Sunday Brunch was thrown into chaos when host Tim Lovejoy had viewers in stitches following a comical blunder on the Channel 4 show.

During the episode, Tim and his co-host Simon Rimmer were joined by a star-studded line-up including Lucy Beaumont, Pixie Lott, Blossoms, Gary Lightbody, Ellie Leach, and Sophia Warner for a Sunday morning chat (September 15).

Thankfully, Tim's mishap was smoothly handled by his quick-thinking co-host Simon, who pointed out the amusing error, much to the delight of everyone in the studio.

In conversation with guest Gary, Tim queried: "So Gary, by the way, you were at HMV Belfast yesterday. How was that, was that good?" It was then that Simon chimed in with a witty correction: "It's HMS, not HMV."

Gary joined in the laughter, clearly entertained by the mix-up, and Channel 4 viewers were quick to react, with many taking to social media to poke fun at Tim's mistake.

One amused viewer tweeted: "That HMV/HMS joke was literally the funniest thing I have ever ever heard. We are so f*****g back. I want to cheer."

Sunday Brunch airs Sundays at 9:30am on Channel 4.
