I found a £3.50 B&M Christmas treat that's put a smile on my face every day since

This is a super cute festive bargain you can use every day

You've got to love a Christmas gonk. These gnome-like figures with huge hats originate from Scandi mythology and are thought to represent the traditional Nordic Santa Claus.

They make for cute decorations - we already have a couple of door stoppers - but to be honest, I have so many decorations that I really don't need any more clutter in my home in the run-up to Christmas. So, when I popped into B&M, I was really only looking at their advent calendars and festive pyjamas.

Then, I spotted a Father Christmas gonk mug that was super cute. It comes with a hat that sits on top of the mug to help keep your drink warm.

At just £3.50, it was too adorable to resist. The myth behind gonks is that they would creep into homes and barns during the winter months to warm up. If treated well, they would bring good luck and fortune to the families living there but if treated badly, they’d be mischievous and play tricks.

It's a bit like how we leave a mince pie and a glass of sherry out for Santa Claus on Christmas Eve, in Nordic countries, people leave out a bowl of porridge for gonks on the winter solstice.

For me, I shall use this festive mug to drink my tea each morning with my bowl of porridge as the perfect way to countdown to Christmas. I think they'd make really cute gifts too, especially if you add a sachet of delicious hot chocolate.
