Met Office says Birmingham braced for cold as 'temperatures struggling' - hour by hour forecast

Forecasters believe temperatures could reach lows of 2C in the evening with people advised to check for rain before they leave the house

Temperatures are starting to dip in Birmingham with the city braced for chilly conditions. Saturday, October 12, will see sunny spells and isolated showers but you might want to take your hat and gloves out on Sunday.

The Met Office said it was possible temperatures could reach lows of 2C in the evening, although the highest possible temperature was 13C. There is a chance of rain throughout the weekend so it is worth checking before leaving the house.

The decrease in temperatures is largely attributed to an icy northerly wind, which will bring colder Arctic air down. However, as we reported earlier this week, forecasters predict that a new Jetstream arriving later next week will abruptly end the cold snap.

For Saturday, the Met Office forecasted: “A few showers are possible during the morning but many places staying dry and bright with sunny spells. Gradually turning cloudier and breezier through this afternoon with heavier showers arriving from the north. Feeling a little milder. Maximum temperature 13C.

“Scattered showers and clear spells this evening but becoming dry and chilly overnight. Winds easing and turning cold by dawn with patchy grass frost possible in rural areas. Minimum temperature 2C.”

For Sunday, it continued: “A cold but fairly bright start with some hazy sunshine. Cloud generally thickening through the day but staying dry. Feeling chilly with temperatures struggling for the time of year. Maximum temperature 10C.”

The outlook for Monday to Wednesday added: “Patchy rain and drizzle on Monday morning then sunny periods and isolated showers. Largely dry on Tuesday with bright spells developing. Rain at times on Wednesday. Much milder than recently.”
