The BBC will air its brand new US drama Apples Never Fall this week, following a seemingly picture-perfect family hiding 'dark secrets'. The mystery drama is based on Liane Moriarty's best-selling novel of the same name and explores the lives of the Delaney family following the sudden arrival of a wounded young woman.

When mum Joy goes mysteriously missing, her children are forced to re-examine their parents' seemingly perfect marriage. Apples Never Fall has been described a 'suspenseful and sinister' and will premiere on BBC One on Saturday, September 21.

What is Apples Never Fall about?

Apples Never Fall introduces us to wealthy couple Stan and Joy Delaney who are ready to enjoy their retirement before a mysterious wounded woman appears at their doorstep. 'Dark' secrets are soon brought to light as their children explore their family history.

The BBC synopsis reads: "Apples Never Fall centres on the seemingly picture-perfect Delaney family. Former tennis coaches Stan and Joy have sold their successful tennis academy and are ready to start what should be the golden years of their lives. While they look forward to spending time with their four adult children, everything changes when a wounded young woman knocks on Joy and Stan's door, bringing the excitement they've been missing.

"But when Joy suddenly disappears, her children are forced to re-examine their parents' so-called perfect marriage as their family’s darkest secrets begin to surface."

Apples Never Fall initially aired on US-only streaming service Peacock in March.
