Strictly Come Dancing fans shared a unified reaction as Wynne Evans and Katya Jones became the latest couple to leave the 2024 series. The pair found themselves in the dance-off for the second week in a row, after narrowly avoiding elimination the previous week.

This time, they were up against Shayne Ward and Nancy Xu in the bottom two. The show on Saturday, November 16, was a special episode broadcast live from Blackpool's iconic Tower Ballroom, as part of Strictly's annual visit to the seaside town.

The evening began with the professional dancers performing to a medley of Pet Shop Boys classics, including "It's A Sin" and "What Have I Done To Deserve This". The eight remaining couples then took to the famous sprung floor to showcase their skills.

Wynne and Katya's Charleston routine ended with the opera singer enthusiastically swinging his partner by her feet. Judge Anton Du Beke praised Evans' energetic performance of Georges Bizet's Carmen Suite No 1: 5.

Les Toreadors, but noted that he appeared "exhausted towards the end of the dance". Judge Shirley Ballas described their routine as a "Katya special", commending the ambitious lifts and moves, and deemed it "highly entertaining", reports the Mirror.

The judges awarded them a score of 31 out of 40. In an intense showdown during Sunday night's episode on November 17, Wynne and Katya were once more at risk, facing the dreaded dance-off for a second week in a row.

They went toe-to-toe with Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe during the eighth results show of the series, marking another tense moment for the pair as they strived to remain in the contest. Both couples performed again, with Montell and Johannes kicking it off with their Salsa to Thelma Houston's 'Don't Leave Me This Way', followed by Wynne and Katya’s Charleston.

Following the repeat performances, the judges were in complete agreement, opting to save Montell and Johannes and thus ending Wynne and Katya's journey on the show. The decision garnered support from the audience, many of whom felt it was 'the right decision' after the controversy over Wynne and Katya's previous advancement over Shayne and Nancy.

One audience member empathised with Wynne yet concurred with the verdict: "I really like Wynne and I think he hate he's had has been really unfair, but this week I think it was the right decision. Especially against Montell."

While another succinctly confirmed: "Right result."

Mixed emotions were evident as another viewer remarked: "Right result but I've loved watching Wynne over the past few weeks. Absolutely not the best dancer but he put so much into it and the joy on his face every week put a smile on mine."

Another comment came in commendation of Wynne’s effort: "Well done Wynne on making it this far but it was the right decision."
