What the Philips Air Performer 2-in-1 has to offer
The Philips Air Performer is a combination air purifier and cooling fan. It purifies the air in the room while simultaneously generating an adjustable airflow. This makes it a much better choice for summer than a simple tower fan. It’ll protect you from pollen and dust while helping you to stay cool. Bear in mind that cooling fans can only make you more comfortable in the heat – they can’t lower the room temperature like an air conditioner.
According to Philips, the Air Performer is suitable for rooms up to 70 square metres. Its purification performance is specified as a CADR rating of 270 cubic metres per hour. The NanoProtect HEPA filter with activated carbon is said to remove 99.97 per cent of particles from 0.003 microns in size. These include allergens, odours, gases, dust, pollen and pet hair. The device is HEPA-certified and, according to the product images, also bears the ECARF seal of approval for allergy-friendliness.
Philips uses AeraSense sensors for automatic air purification. These are designed to monitor air quality in real time and adjust the performance accordingly. In addition, Philips refers to intelligent AI functionality that adapts to air quality and usage patterns. The device can be controlled via an app, and Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant are also supported. A child lock is also included.
In sleep mode, the Philips Air Performer is said to operate at 20 decibels. Power consumption is 40 watts. The device is corded, operates on 220 volts and is intended for indoor use.
The tower fan measures 26 x 26 x 106cm and weighs 7.3kg. This means the air purifier isn’t tiny, but it’s still portable enough to be used in different rooms as needed.
Why this is a good deal
The Philips Air Performer is particularly appealing if you’re looking for a fan that can also clean the air – and is made by a trusted brand. This combination can be particularly useful for larger living rooms, bedrooms or households affected by pollen, dust or pet hair. With a similar tower design, it can be seen as a more affordable alternative to Dyson, without costing anywhere near as much.
User reviews are generally very positive, with an average rating of 4.1 out of 5 stars based on 59 reviews. The air filtration, build quality, design and generally quiet operation are particularly praised. Some users report that indoor air quality improves noticeably during continuous use. The biggest issue people have with the fan is its price – which is why buying on sale makes sense.
