Google first trailed its upcoming Home Speaker at its Made by Google event last summer, but since then, has only confirmed that the device is expected to arrive in “spring 2026”.
With spring having come and almost gone, we were starting to question whether or not the Gemini AI-integrated product would be arriving at all. After all, it’s been a six-year wait since the last device was released – the chunky Nest Audio.
But now the mystery of its arrival seems to have been solved – that is, if we can trust a product page on Best Buy’s Canadian site.
According to the Best Buy page, the speaker is set to launch on 25 June, in three and a half weeks’ time.
It’s been redesigned, although you can still expect a fairly familiar fabric-covered globe. While it’ll come in four colour options – Jade, Berry, Porcelain and Hazel – buyers outside the US will be limited to the latter two. In other words, the boring off-white and black versions.
Interestingly, the Best Buy page only lists these two, so it’s possible that the other colours could arrive later.
It’ll also feature a light ring at the base, which allows “expressive visual feedback of what Gemini is doing at any given moment”, according to Google.
You can also say goodbye to the previous iteration’s Nest branding. This is a Google device, optimised, as you might expect, for better conversational interactions with Gemini AI.
The Google Home Speaker will cost £99 in the UK and $99 in the US. According to Best Buy, it’ll be $139.99 CAD.
But there’s a snag. If you want to enjoy everything that Gemini has to offer, you’ll have to shell out for a subscription as well. In the meantime, find out everything we know about the upcoming device in our Google Home Speaker round-up.
