In summary:
- Tech Advisor reports that leaked Pixel 11 wallpapers suggest Google is shifting from vibrant colors to more restrained, earthy designs with a “quietly classy” aesthetic.
- The Pixel 11 series, expected to launch in August, may feature beige/brown, blue/silver, green, and black color options with a new “Pixel Glow” notification system.
- This represents a notable departure from previous bold colorways like the Pixel 10 Lemongrass, indicating Google’s evolving design philosophy toward subtlety.
We now have a good idea of what we’re going to be seeing when we first fire up our Google Pixel 11 phones, thanks to a wallpaper leak.
Over on Telegram, leaker Mystic Leaks has shared a ZIP file that seems to contain all of the wallpapers set to be loaded up on the Google Pixel 11 series. You can check the post out here.
Our big takeaway from viewing all of these files is that they’re a little restrained. Dull, even.
On the positive side, they do offer a glimpse at some of the Pixel 11 colour options that we’ll be receiving, given Google’s love of matching its software to its hardware.
The earthy, satellite-image looking wallpapers suggest Google might move away from its usual strategy of having at least one or two loud and eccentric colourways – take the Pixel 10 in Lemongrass, for example – though it’s hard to tell for sure.
As a reminder, the leaked CAD-based renders are simply based on existing Pixel 10 colours.
Pixel 11 wallpaper colours
The regular Pixel 11 gets four wallpaper colour options, all showing an aerial view of a coastal scene, and all with slightly muted tones.
From left to right, they appear to hint at black, green, pink/red and purple shades.
Pixel 11 Pro wallpaper colours
The Pixel 11 Pro (and XL) adds a few different tones to the roster, but with a similar watery theme.
They seem to be beige/brown, blue/silver, green and black.
As we reported previously, there are just the two wallpapers for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, likely reflecting the limited colour options of the foldable device itself. So, you get a black and white-dominated coastal scene and a more greenish-tinged coastal scene.
In each case, there are dark and light variations, though even the lighter versions hardly smack you around the chops with their vibrancy.
Google’s definitely aiming for ‘quietly classy’ with this year’s Pixel 11 series. Here’s hoping it’s got some internal hardware features to wow us.
Reports suggest that the Pixel 11 range might arrive with an external ‘Pixel Glow’ notification lighting system, which Google might have teased during its Google I/O keynote.
There’s not too long to wait for the Pixel 11 range to arrive, as Google is expected to unveil the phones in August.
