by · Android Headlines

In addition to announcing the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra, the company also announced the Leica Leitzphone Powered by Xiaomi. That is basically a rebranded Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica edition, which launched in China a while back.

Leica Leitzphone Powered by Xiaomi is the global Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition

This of this phone as the Xiaomi 17 Ultra with a rotating camera oreo on the back, and a different paint job. There is an additional Leica camera engraving on the phone as well, and some added Leica features.

The phone comes with Leica Essential Mode, Leica M9 Style, and Leica M3 Style modes. The first one recreates the image quality of Leica’s legendary cameras. The second one uses a “RAW-to-RGB” model, while the last one digitally models the grain and tonality of Leica MONOPAN 50 film for black and white images.

The rotating camera module on the back is customizable. By default, it’s used for zoom, but you can tweak that on the phone itself. It definitely makes the phone feel more like a camera.

It has the same specs as the Xiaomi 17 Ultra

Now, for the specs, things are pretty much the same as on the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. There is a 6.9-inch 2608 x 1200 OLED LTPO display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. It gets very bright and has high-frequency PWM dimming.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 fuels this smartphone. It comes with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 flash storage. A 6,000mAh battery is used here, while the phone supports 90W wired and 50W wireless charging. Reverse wireless charging is also supported.

A 50-megapixel main camera (Light Fusion 1050L sensor, f/1.67 aperture, Leica lens) is combined with a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera (115-degree FoV, 5cm macro, f/2.2 aperture). The third camera on the back is a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto unit (1/1.4-inch sensor size, HPE image sensor, f/2.39-f/2.96 aperture, 3.2-4.3x optical zoom).

Android 16 comes pre-installed here, with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3.0 skin. There is an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner used here, while the phone also has an infrared sensor as well. Bluetooth 6.0 is on offer too.

This handset is quite pricey

The Leica Leitzphone Powered by Xiaomi comes in a black color only, and it’s priced at €1,999.99. It will be available across Europe. We’ve already published our Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra reviews, in case you’re interested.
