Ninja Gaiden, Nioh, Dynasty Warriors Publisher Has a Mysterious New 'Action' IP in the Works
Project 'FUJI' outed
by Robert Ramsey · Push SquareBeing the publisher behind properties like Ninja Gaiden, Nioh, Dynasty Warriors, Wo Long, and more, it's safe to say Koei Tecmo loves its action games.
And so it's not a huge shock to learn that the company's cooking up a new action title. This mystery project, currently named 'FUJI', has been outed by a Japanese government initiative.
That sounds more ominous than it actually is; it's basically just the powers that be promoting Japanese-made entertainment, with this 'FUJI' having been selected for external support.
To be clear, this isn't a new title from an existing property. A very brief description mentions "oriental-style aesthetics" and again, a focus on action.
This is, of course, very much within Koei Tecmo's wheelhouse. The publisher's got a long history of crafting games that are set in specific periods of Asian history, and 'FUJI' strongly suggests Japanese ties in terms of potential settings.
Part of me does think, however, that having the likes of Nioh, Wo Long, Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, and even Rise of the Ronin be joined by yet another historic foray borders on overkill.
Still, it'll be interesting to see what 'FUJI' ends up being. It's entirely possible that it'll be revealed once the recently announced Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember releases next year.

About Robert Ramsey
Robert (or Rob if you're lazy) is an assistant editor of Push Square, and has been a fan of PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible world of video games. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales — he's played 'em all. A little too much, some might say.

I see FUJI I think Godzilla but I'm guessing it isn't that. 😝
I booted up my PS3 the other day looking at our old games with my kid, and when they saw Godzilla they say "The crappy Godzilla game." And they aren't wrong. Will probably buy DAMM again.
