Reminder: The PS5 Release Schedule Is About to Become the Busiest It's Ever Been

GTA 6 is to blame

We're now a few days into August 2026, which means that the pre-GTA 6 games avalanche is underway. It only gets more and more insane from here, folks.

I've written about this before, but now that it's actually here, I think it's worth reiterating just how mental the PS5 release schedule is over the next three months or so. It's been a long, long time since I saw so many titles packed into such a relatively short period.

That said, I don't think the rest of August looks too bad — but when you look at it as an opening act for September, it can only add to the potential misery of your poor bank account.

Indeed, it's really September and October that take the p*ss. In a desperate bid to avoid the earth-shattering influence of GTA 6 in November, so many publishers have decided to cram their releases into prior months. It could become a bloodbath.

In the space of just three weeks or so in September, we're getting The Blood of Dawnwalker, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Marvel's Wolverine, Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, Dune: Awakening, Control Resonant, and Silent Hill: Townfall. Have mercy!

October's close to being just as crazy, but you could argue that the schedule's a little more spaced out. Well, if you discount the fact that five different games are all launching on the 15th.

It's worth mentioning that delays can still happen; I wouldn't be surprised to see one or two slightly lower profile games bite the bullet and move into 2027. But for the most part, I don't think these dates will see too many changes.

Here's the PS5 schedule as it stands:

August

September

October
