The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation is hosting two Rapid Response events Thursday to assist workers impacted by the airline’s closure. The events, which are scheduled to take place in Las Vegas and Reno, are aimed at connecting affected workers with support and resources.
When the Florida-based discount airline shut down on Saturday, thousands of workers across the country lost their jobs. According to an official notice, the airline laid off 999 workers in Las Vegas.
The Rapid Response events will provide former Spirit employees with access to career and job search assistance, training and upskilling opportunities through EmployNV, information and guidance on unemployment insurance and details on healthcare options and community services.
The Las Vegas event will be held at EmployNV Career Hub at 3405 S. Maryland Parkway, while the Reno event will take place at EmployNV Career Hub at 4001 S. Virginia St., Suite 11.
Both events will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and are free and open to the public.
