North Las Vegas car crash kills 1 female and injures another

North Las Vegas Police responded to a fatal pedestrian car crash near West Craig Road and Simmons Street, Saturday afternoon.

Police discovered that a 2020 BMW X3 was speeding and weaving through traffic as it approached Craig. At the intersection the BMW struck a 2021 Kia Optima then hit a utility pole, landscaping, and a cinder block wall before hitting two pedestrians on the sidewalk.

The first victim, a 17-year-old female, was pronounced dead on the scene and the second victim,a 19-year-old girl, was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries. The driver of the Kia Optima was not injured, and a juvenile passenger inside the BMW was also unharmed.

The driver of the BMW, identified as a 32-year-old male, showed signs of possible impairment. The driver was later taken into custody and booked on multiple charges, including reckless driving resulting in death, reckless driving resulting in substantial bodily harm, child endangerment, and driving without a valid license.
