Will Las Vegas Valley see 110 today?

Ten percent.

That is the chance that Las Vegas will hit 110 degrees today, said Julie Phillipson of the National Weather Service office in Las Vegas.

The region is feeling the effects of another June heat wave. The forecast high for Tuesday is 109 (record is 116 set in 2021) and 108 for Wednesday (record is 114 set in 2021), Phillipson said. Those highs are a slight downward revision from earlier forecasts of 110 and more, Phillipson said.

“We’ve come down a little bit” on those forecasts, she said.

Still, Tuesday should be the hottest day of the year. Last week, the temperature hit 108 on Friday and Saturday.

Harry Reid International Airport reached 107 on Monday. Phillipson said no heat advisories are expected to be issued this week, and no heat records are expected to be broken. The average high for mid-June is about 100 degrees.

Cooling stations activated

Clark County has activated cooling stations at community centers, libraries and other buildings across the valley through Wednesday.

The cooling stations’ hours will vary depending on the location, the county said. The stations will include several locations in Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and Henderson.

The stations are open to anyone in need of respite from the heat, the county said. Additional information can be found at the Southern Nevada Homelessness Continuum of Care’s website at helphopehome.org/get-help/, the county said.

Cooling down again

By Friday, high temperatures will drop several degrees as another system moves into Southern Nevada from the Pacific Northwest, Phillipson said. Friday’s high will be 104, and it may drop even more during the weekend.

Expect a return to breezy conditions by Saturday, she said. The first day of summer (aka summer solstice) is Sunday, the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.
