Two Las Vegas men are accused of being part of a fuel-theft ring in Arizona Wednesday, according to police.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said it arrested Dachel Roberto Michel Campos, 37, and Jesus Daniel Rodriguez Yordy, 23, on burglary and theft charges stemming from the discovery of approximately 2,100 gallons of stolen diesel from multiple gas stations in Seligman, Arizona, a town of roughly 500 located three hours southeast of Las Vegas.

According to the sheriff’s office, a deputy, responding to a report of fuel theft from a gas station, located a parked U-Haul truck that matched the description of one of the suspect vehicles, and noticed diesel fuel leaking from the cargo area onto the street. The deputy followed a trail of shoe prints leading directly to a nearby hotel room, a news release said.

Both suspects were discovered and arrested inside the hotel room.

“A search revealed a credit card skimmer device, receipts for the specific tools used to commit the burglaries, and multiple credit cards bearing the names of uninvolved individuals, indicating potential identity theft and fraud, as well as the keys to the suspects’ U‑Haul,” the release said. “A search of the U‑Haul revealed a makeshift transport system consisting of seven containers holding approximately 2,100 gallons of stolen diesel fuel.”

Local authorities coordinated with the affected gas stations to recover the stolen fuel.

A third suspect, unidentified, was also involved, along with a second vehicle which was described as “a newer-model black Ford F-650 flatbed truck,” that fled the area before local authorities arrived, police said.
