Independence One, Southwest Airlines’ newest patriotically themed Boeing 737 jet, will make its first appearance in Las Vegas on Wednesday when it arrives from Tucson, Arizona, shortly after sunset.

Southwest Flight 1421 is scheduled to arrive at Harry Reid International Airport at 8 p.m. It will depart for Albuquerque, New Mexico, as Flight 1684 at 8:50 p.m.

Independence One is one of three Southwest jets with livery celebrating the founding of the United States. The jet debuted with a flight from Dallas to Philadelphia on Wednesday and made its way west later in the day.

Independence One has a red, white and blue paint scheme with 1776 written in giant quill script. The newly painted jet also has the key phrase, “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” from the Declaration of Independence and the three inalienable rights endowed to all humans; 13 stars on the fuselage denoting the 13 original colonies; a circle of stars on each engine cowling reflecting the original Betsy Ross flag design; a special 1776 tail number; and America250 nose and winglet decal.

It is joining two other patriotically themed Southwest jets, Freedom One, which has been in the fleet since 2021, and Liberty One, an American flag-themed jet.

Southwest, Reid airport’s busiest commercial air carrier with around 215 flights a day, introduced the new themed jet in connection with the airline’s partnership with America250 and its volunteerism initiative.

To support the initiative, the airline will invest up to $250,000 to further support the nonprofit organizations its employees serve and amplify the reach of their volunteerism. The We Serve Together grant from Southwest Airlines is a commitment to build upon the more than 180,000 hours of volunteer service from Southwest employees in 2025.

“As America marks its 250th anniversary, Southwest Airlines’ legacy of connecting people and communities reflects the spirit of freedom and opportunity that defines our nation,” said Rosie Rios, chair of America250. “Through initiatives like Independence One and America Gives, this partnership will help bring Americans together — across cities, states, and generations — in celebration and service.”

Southwest has a history of providing special liveries on many of their jets. Among the special planes in its fleet is Nevada One, an aircraft painted blue with imagery from the Nevada state flag.
