Las Vegas ranks high among nation’s cities for ‘bleisure’ demand
by Richard N. Velotta / Las Vegas Review-Journal · Las Vegas Review-JournalLas Vegas ranks seventh in the nation for “bleisure” demand, a measure of 30 destinations that best blend business travel with leisure activities, according to a new study.
The proximity of Harry Reid International Airport to business and leisure destinations is the city’s greatest asset, according to the study conducted by car rental company Sixt.
“Harry Reid International Airport sits just one mile from the city center which is the shortest distance of any city in the entire ranking,” the study says. “This means business travelers are in the heart of the action within minutes of landing. Combined with a congestion score of 34, Las Vegas is one of the most logistically straightforward destinations in the study for the time-conscious business traveler.”
Las Vegas also ranked above average on searches for things to do and for the number of conference venues available, but low in public transportation.
“Bleisure” search demand for Las Vegas soared 142 percent over the past three months, according to the study.
Las Vegas trails San Francisco, Chicago, Orlando, Atlanta, New York City and Miami in the rankings, but ahead of San Diego, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Denver, Houston and Salt Lake City.
