London is getting a café dedicated to crumpets
by Frankie Lister-Fell · Time Out LondonNo longer simply something to scoff with a cuppa for breakfast, crumpets are going artisan. A new crumpet café is set to open in Notting Hill.
This October, premium crumpet-crafter Jones’ Crumpets, which stocks London’s market stalls and delis with spongy yeast cakes, will be opening a permanent base on trendy Golborne Road.
What’s on the menu? Well, plenty of crumpets, obviously – but these are not just your regular holey goods. There’s a breakfast option, two savoury choices and a sweet dish. Jones’ has developed signature flavours to spice up the crumpet game: alongside a classic crumpet, there’s ‘double cheese’ º which is made up of strong cheddar and melty parmesan – ‘cheese and chive’ and ‘dark chocolate’. The latter oozes with a 71 percent dark chocolate molten core.
You can also take away any of the crumpets with a variety of homemade toppings and wash it all down with coffee courtesy of Allpress.
Jones’ Crumpets was founded in 2017 by Liverpool-born Ian Endfield, who launched the brand as a supper club in his London flat. Since then, Endfield’s goods have been stocked across the best of the best in the city, including Ottolenghi’s restaurant Rovi in Fitzrovia and Primrose Hill Food Market. They are also available on mail order.
Jones’ Crumpet Café will be open in October from 8am to 4pm at 44 Golborne Road, W10 5PR.
