Video captures car slamming into North Dallas auto repair shop

Dallas police said the driver fled after the overnight crash at Wayne Motors.

A car slammed into a North Dallas auto repair shop early in the morning, leaving behind a mangled guardrail and a cracked and charred building facade.

Dallas police said no injuries were reported after the crash at Wayne Motors. The driver and three people who helped pull the driver from the wreck fled before officers arrived, police said.

Surveillance video from the shop captured the dramatic crash and its aftermath around 2 a.m. The car plunged from Dickerson Drive into the body shop.

“I was like, man, is this really happening? Then I get up here, and I’m like, woah. What happened?” owner Jason Wright said.

Wright said the damage left clues about the car's path before it came to a stop.

“I guess it came from that direction and I guess it like spun around, and the tires were up against the wall face down," Wright said.

Surveillance video showed three people from a second vehicle pulling the driver to safety just in time. Dallas police said they fled before officers arrived.

“It could’ve been way worse," Wright said. "Just glad nobody died, you know.”

Wright spent the day cleaning up the damage. He said drivers have sped through the area and other wrecks have happened before, but nothing like this.

“We were really just fortunate, you know," Wright said. "I was really scared the whole building could’ve caught fire, and then I would’ve had a bunch of unhappy customers.”

Dallas police said they will continue to investigate the crash.
