Universal Kids is open. What to know about Frisco's new theme park

They held a ribbon-cutting on Wednesday, July 1, for families and community organizations, including the Cub Scouts and Boys and Girls Club of Frisco.
There were also performances from the characters that fill the 7 lands inside the park, from Minions and Trolls to SpongeBob, Shrek, and Jurassic Park.
This is Universal's first theme park built specifically for children ages 3 to 8, with water rides, coasters, and splash pads. Kids 2 and under get in free.
There's also an adventure camp, sensory gardens, play parks, and arcades.
Tickets and hotel packages are on sale. Tickets start at $55 dollars for adults or $74 for a two-day pass. There are also annual passes, VIP experiences, and special rates for larger groups.
There were limited tickets available for Friday and Sunday still available at the time of publication, but Wednesday and Saturday, July 4, were sold out.
There are 300 hotel rooms, with themed rooms, dining, and a pool. The first families were already checked in last night.
Local parents were excited for more options to keep their kids busy this summer.
"We are so excited," said Breshelle West of Frisco.
"It's amazing, cause everyday I drive past it to work and I would see the construction from berth to now, and we're just excited," Jeremy Li of Celina.
The park is not far from the Dallas North Tollway.
Park officials urge everyone to stay hydrated and find shade if needed.
The park is typically open from 10 a.m. to 7 or 8 p.m. depending on the day, with guests staying at the resort's on-site hotel eligible for early admission.
The resort is owned by NBC Universal, the parent company of NBC 5.
