Work trip to Fort Worth benefits 15 nonprofits
Almost 700 employees volunteer in the company's day of service.
by Deborah Ferguson · 5 NBCDFWWhen an insurance company brought its leadership team to Fort Worth for a conference, it also brought something good for the community.
Higginbotham has a tradition that includes a day of service. Team members give back their time and effort to area nonprofit organizations.
Together, the 680-plus volunteers donated more than 1,500 hours in a single day.
Volunteers fanned out across 15 area nonprofits where each spent more than two hours working on projects and helping others.
The nonprofits included Lena Pope, Humane Society of North Texas, Communities in Schools, Hagar's Heart, Cook Children's Hospital, Rivertree Academy/Samaritan's Feet, Ridglea Giving Garden, Tarrant Area Food Bank, Wish for Wheels [two locations], Habitat for Humanity, Fort Worth Botanic Gardens, Volunteers of America, Hope Farm, Central StoreHouse, and Arise Africa.
The team members came from 16 states across the country, and on that day of service, they connected with the community and each other.
