Search continues 4 months after Dallas attorney, SMU professor went missing
Charles Hosch, 67, was last seen hiking Blood Mountain in Georgia
by Katy Blakey · 5 NBCDFWFour months have passed since a Dallas attorney and SMU law school professor went missing while hiking in Georgia.
His daughter spoke to NBC5 after volunteers from multiple states gathered this week for another search.
“It is a powerful time to still be here months in with people that have still committed to that,” said Julia Hosch Singh. “It is just humbling.”
On November 11th, the 67-year-old husband, father and grandfather went missing while hiking on the Appalachian Trail.
He was in Georgia visiting family and decided to hike Blood Mountain. His family said he was familiar with the area.
For months, law enforcement, volunteers, dogs and drones have searched the rough terrain.
This weekend’s effort brought volunteers from Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina and Georgia, according to Hosch Singh.
It was a critical search before spring fully blooms and protective wildlife with young offspring emerge.
“We just remain so grateful to those people that continue to spend their time and energy and time away from their families looking for ours. That’s a gift you can’t pay back,” Hosch Singh said.
The family’s website, Bring Charles Home, continues to share notes and updates alongside photos of the search.
A GoFundMe page started right after Hosch went missing has also raised thousands of dollars. The family says it will be used to support the agencies and volunteer groups.
Hosch Singh said they remain appreciative of everyone in North Texas, Georgia and beyond that have supported their family.
“There have been so many people that have really come and walked with us, literally and figuratively, as we figured out where to go and what to do next.”
Authorities have found no indication of foul play.
