Gloway And KingBank Launch 48 GB DDR5 Kits With China-Made 24 Gb Chips
by Matt Lawrence · OnMSFTGloway and KingBank have introduced new 48 GB DDR5 memory kits using domestically produced 24 Gb DDR5 chips, marking another step for Chinese memory vendors as they reduce their dependence on Samsung, Micron, and SK Hynix for high-density RAM modules.
IT Home reports that Gloway has launched the Longwu Yi Special Edition 48 GB DDR5 kit, which includes two 24 GB modules and runs at 6000 MT/s with CL36-38-38-80 timings at 1.25V. The kit also uses a custom heat spreader design with 5W/mK thermal pads, and Gloway has optimized it specifically for AMD platforms.
KingBank Joins With Star Blade RGB DDR5
KingBank has also introduced its Star Blade RGB DDR5 series with a 2x 24 GB configuration, using an 8-die layout to reach 48 GB capacity. The modules include 2mm thick heat spreaders, thermal material over the PMIC, and dual-sided RGB lighting with 16 LEDs.
These kits target users who need more than 32 GB of memory for gaming, content creation, or professional work, while avoiding the higher cost and unused capacity of 64 GB kits.
China’s DDR5 Push Gains Momentum
The use of 24 Gb DDR5 chips allows vendors to build 24 GB modules more efficiently than traditional designs based on 16 Gb or 32 Gb chips. This also shows how Chinese memory suppliers are moving toward larger, domestically produced DDR5 solutions.
The wider market impact will take time, but large-scale production of high-density China-made DDR5 chips can increase competition and ease pressure on global memory supply chains.
