User Orders $26 CPU Cooler, Gets $349 Ryzen 7 5800X3D Instead

A PC builder who ordered a $26 Cooler Master Hyper 212 CPU cooler received a sealed AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor instead, turning a routine hardware purchase into a surprisingly valuable delivery mistake.

The customer shared the unexpected order on Reddit, explaining that the package contained AMD’s Ryzen 7 5800X3D rather than the CPU cooler he originally purchased. The processor reportedly sells for around $349, which makes the accidental shipment worth more than 13 times the price of the cooler.

Reddit user u/Joccahontas also showed the sealed Ryzen 7 5800X3D package, which includes AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology and remains one of the strongest gaming processors available for the AM4 platform.

The Ryzen 7 5800X3D uses eight Zen 3 CPU cores and adds 64MB of extra L3 cache through AMD’s 3D V-Cache design, giving the chip particularly strong gaming performance on systems that still use AM4 motherboards.

There is still one problem with the order

Despite receiving hardware worth considerably more than what he paid, the customer still needs the Cooler Master Hyper 212 because the processor arrived without a CPU cooler.

He joked that he cannot use the unexpected processor because “it comes without a fan,” meaning he now needs to place another cooler order before installing the Ryzen 7 5800X3D.

Retail shipping mistakes occasionally result in customers receiving the wrong hardware, although getting a sealed $349 gaming processor after spending only $26 on a cooler ranks among the more unusual examples.
