Prince William can’t ‘shake it off’ when it comes to a special friendship bracelet
by Jess Ilse · Royal CentralPrince William sported a special piece of jewellery in South Africa: a friendship bracelet crafted by Princess Charlotte.
The young royal made her father a friendship bracelet before he departed for the Earthshot Prize ceremony week in Cape Town, South Africa. The simple blue-beaded bracelet spells out ‘Papa’ and resembles a Taylor Swift friendship bracelet, a relic from their attendance at the Eras Tour in June.
In an interview with Sky News, Prince William said “Well, this is a, I think, a relic, if you like, from a Taylor Swift concert that my daughter decided that she wanted to create a bracelet for.”
He added that Princess Charlotte gave him the bracelet before he departed, and he made a promise: “I’d wear it and try not to lose it while I was out here.”
William took his eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, to the Eras Tour on his birthday in June. The future king was spotted in his VIP box dancing along to ‘Shake It Off’ and later met Taylor backstage for a special birthday selfie.
Princess Charlotte seemed excited to meet Taylor and her boyfriend Travis Kelce, at least according to the football star and his brother. On their podcast, ‘New Heights’, the brothers spoke about meeting the royals and gave special praise to the young princess.
“Prince William was fantastic but the highlight was Princess Charlotte. Prince George was great too. She was so…adorable,” Jason Kelce said.
Travis added: “I love it when parents ask their kids to be present, be vocal. It’s such a good parent move. Just a good meet and a picture and to keep it moving… So, if anybody’s doing right Prince William is doing it right. So thank you your royal highness it was awesome meeting you. And Charlotte and George.”
