William’s annual style moment is just as classic as usual
by Jessica Storoschuk · Royal CentralPrince William has already made The Earthshot Prize a major part of his legacy as his project focuses on finding solutions for climate change now rather than waiting for legislation and possibly projects. The annual awards ceremony has also become his biggest annual fashion moment, with the 2024 ceremony being no exception.
The dress code for The Earthshot Prize ceremony always understandably focuses on sustainability. And William has once again embraced it.
The Prince of Wales went casual for this year’s awards in Cape Town with a thrifted blazer, casual trousers, and sneakers.
The grey double-breasted blazer is in the Prince of Wales check, and William reportedly found it at a thrift store in London before he left.
With sustainability important from head to toe, it makes sense that he also chose a pair of sustainably-made sneakers. The white shoes are from Purified, a company that makes zero-plastic sneakers that are biodegradable.
Purified also has Earthshot connections, as Earthshot Prize Finalist Mary Allen (of Natural Fibre Welding) founded the company.
Prince William has also left his beard, a new look for the tail-end of 2024. In the past, he has typically shaved quickly but it appears to be here to stay on the future King.
