Beautiful lady quits her aviation job to become a taxi driver
by Armani Brooklyn · GHANA PAGEKenya — A young woman’s journey of resilience and reinvention has drawn massive attention online after she successfully carved out a new career path in the transport sector, despite early setbacks and societal expectations.
Chidinma, who holds a degree in aviation, has been forced to rethink her career ambitions after struggling to find opportunities in the industry.
She studied at Landover Aviation Business School, trained as a licensed cabin crew member, and entered the aviation field with high hopes.
However, limited job openings and what she perceived as nepotism made it difficult for her to progress, eventually pushing her to exit the industry.
In search of financial stability, Chidinma explored several alternatives. She first ventured into the hospitality business, preparing and selling food to earn a living.
The business, however, did not yield the expected returns, forcing her to shut it down and temporarily relocate to her sister’s place.

Determined not to give up, Chidinma turned her attention to the transport sector, a space largely dominated by men. She began by learning how to drive a tricycle and later acquired one through a hire-purchase arrangement, officially joining the business in 2023.
“I started driving a tricycle in 2023 for a short period under a hire-purchase deal,” she told Technext24. “But when my mother heard about it, she complained and said a young girl like me was not supposed to be driving a keke. She said it was too risky and that I should do something else.”
Out of respect for her mother’s concerns, Chidinma exited the tricycle business.
However, her passion for transportation remained strong, and she soon set her sights on a bigger goal.
She enrolled in a professional driving school, underwent months of training, and successfully obtained a driving licence, bringing her closer to her dream of driving professionally.
“After getting my licence, I started practising car driving with friends and relatives,” she said. “Earlier this year, I called my mother and told her about my plans and how much I had already saved. When she saw my zeal, she decided to assist me. I also got help from my sister. With the funds combined, I was able to get a car.”
With her own vehicle, Chidinma officially entered the taxi business, where she says she is now thriving financially.
She explained that owning her car gives her flexibility and control over her work schedule, allowing her to set daily income targets and balance work with rest.
Today, driving has become more than just a means of survival for Chidinma—it is a passion and a symbol of her independence.
