El Paso Teens Can Train Like Firefighters This Summer

If your child has ever dreamed of becoming a firefighter then you are in luck because the El Paso Fire Department is offering a unique opportunity this summer for kids to learn what it takes to serve on the front lines.
The 2026 EPFD Summer Youth Academy is now accepting applications for its annual summer camp, where participants will get an inside look at the exciting and challenging world of firefighting. The academy is designed to provide youth with hands-on experiences while teaching teamwork, leadership, discipline, and public safety skills.

Here’s What Kids Can Expect:
Participants can expect a week packed with search and rescue drills, firefighter workouts, team competitions, hands-on challenges, and real-world activities alongside EPFD crews. It's an opportunity to make new friends, learn valuable skills, and create memories that will last long after summer vacation ends.
The academy will be held at the EPFD Training Academy, located at 6800 Delta Drive in El Paso.

Two camp sessions are available:
- Session 1: Ages 10-13, June 29 through July 2
- Session 2: Ages 14-17, July 6 through July 10
Space is limited, and interested participants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. The application deadline is June 15.
