Oklahoma May Have a Chilly Thanksgiving This Year

Oklahoma has known nothing but warm weather this fall. The state has seen temperatures near 90 degrees through mid-October. Almost all Oklahomans are hoping for a taste of a real fall before winter arrives. And as November approaches, it's looking like cool fall weather may finally be around the corner.

The Old Farmer's Almanac recently published its November forecast and is predicting Oklahoma will have a chilly Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, Oklahoma is expected to remain dry. But that does bode well for Oklahomans that are planning on traveling during Thanksgiving.

On Thanksgiving, The Old Farmer's Almanac is predicting that Oklahoma will be sunny but with colder-than-average temperatures, which is much different than what Oklahoma has been experiencing for most of fall.

Winter is expected to be mild and dry in Oklahoma.

After Thanksgiving, meteorological winter will begin on Dec. 1, and Oklahoma is expected to have a mild and dry winter. Although most Oklahomans would rather do without snow and ice, the moisture is much needed in Oklahoma. The state had a dry end to summer which has continued into the fall. Therefore the drought has reached extreme levels in most of the state.

The U.S. Drought Monitor last updated its data on Oct. 15, and several areas of Oklahoma are experiencing extreme, severe and moderate droughts, while others are abnormally dry.

Oklahoma weather pattern might change before Halloween.

To make sense of the upcoming chilly Thanksgiving, some local meteorologists are predicting weather pattern shift for Oklahoma. KFOR Chief Meteorologist Mike Morgan is expecting Oklahoma's weather pattern to shift the day of Halloween. He expects this weather pattern shift to be much favorable for rain.

So could that change the precipitation expectations for Thanksgiving? Only time will tell!
