Calling All LEGO Enthusiasts Of Amarillo! Something Big Is Coming.

· NewsTalk 1290

How many of you in Amarillo grew up in the wonderful world of building LEGO sets? Personally, I wasn't one of them, but my brother was HUGE into them. I understood the obsession with it, I just never personally got into it.

I think the biggest thing was I didn't have the patience for it. I very much want to do something right here, right now and finish it. Yeah, I'm not good with puzzles either.

Well, LEGO's haven't exactly waned in popularity. In fact, there are a lot of adults that still build huge LEGO sets. Good news for those of you who enjoy it. Amarillo has something pretty cool coming to town.

On January 4th and 5th, the Amarillo Civic Center is set to host the city's first ever LEGO convention.

It'll be called the Amarillo Brick Convention, and LEGO artists from all over the world will be in town to display their creations and chat with other LEGO enthusiasts. The event will be open to all ages and a portion of the proceeds will be going to non-profit organization Creations for Charity.

Things you can expect to find at the LEGO convention will include a Star Wars Zone which will be nothing but Star Wars creations, a giant LEGO pit that you can just build whatever with, and a Castle Build Zone where you'll be able to build a medieval LEGO creation onsite.

Of course there will be the opportunity to purchase LEGO's as well. You'll be able to find retired LEGO sets as well as some hard-to-find LEGO sets, so if you've been searching for something specific, you may be able to find it here.
