The Wait is Over Amarillo Restaurant Finally Serving Picklewich

· NewsTalk 1290

Last week I tried to order the Picklewich from Jimmy John's in Amarillo. I have a group of friends that just love any new pickle item on any menu. So when I tried to order I was hit with the sad news that the Amarillo Jimmy John's did not have it on the menu I was sad, to say the least.

I emailed the owner wanting information as to when or if Amarillo would have it on their menu with no response. So over the weekend just out of pure curiosity I opened the app again and gave it a try.

The happiness when I saw the good news. Yes, Amarillo can now try the Picklewich. So of course I had to give it a try. I ordered one of each sandwich and I had to have two bags of pickle chips. What kind of pickle fan would I be if I did not? I figured I was set for my next two meals at least.

One sandwich was the Turkey Picklewich with turkey and Provolone. It also had lettuce and tomato in a whole sliced pickle.

The other sandwich was the Vito Picklewich with salami, capocollo and provolone. It also had onion, lettuce, tomato, oil and vinegar, oregano-basil, in a whole sliced pickle. I figured I could not go wrong with either one of them.

The Review of the Picklewich from Jimmy John's

I decided to order both sandwiches. I mean why not? I got a bag of pickle chips to go with them. I also decided to add a quartered pickle to go with it because why not? So I was definitely feeling pickle overload and I loved it.

I will say that being a fan of any food with pickles I did like both sandwiches. I liked the Vito Picklewich more. It had more to it and the addition of the oil and vinegar gave it the kick it needed. Of course, the sandwiches are not huge. They are on a pickle after all. Even though Jimmy John's serving of pickles is pretty big.

My only complaint was the amount of food for the price. I don't think either one was worth the $7.79. They were good just wanted something a little more filling. I understand that this is for someone who loves pickles and possibly wants to cut carbs.

I will stick with the Unwich, which is one of their sandwiches on lettuce. I will continue to get the pickle chips and quartered pickles. You can't go wrong with those.

I am glad I tried the picklewich. It was good. Just a little too much cost for the size of the sandwich.
