Surprising List of Things Post Office in Texas Won’t Accept

· NewsTalk 1290

Just because it’s packed with love doesn’t mean the post office will accept it.
USPS has very specific guidelines when it comes to mailing items. The majority of the time, people send letters in the mail or even clothes, but there are a few items that can get you in trouble in you fail to report them when sending them off.
Obviously, things like explosives could never be mailed out of your local post office, but there are some prohibited items that you might not even think twice about. However, knowledge is power, and can save you from some pretty big consequences(and fines)

Check out the list below to find out if your item is mailable.

  • Air Bags

  • Alcohol

    • Even using beer boxes to send packages is highly restricted. You will have to remove all logos and labels so your package will pass through the mail system.
  • Ammunition

  • Explosives

  • Gasoline

    • Stick to the gas station for this one.
  • Liquid Mercury

    • Very specifically, the liquid version of Mercury is outright prohibited, although I’m not sure who would need to casually mail liquid mercury.
  • Marijuana

    • Whether it’s medical or not, marijuana cannot be mailed. CBS, on the other hand, can be mailed, but there are strict restrictions.

Check before you mail.

Before you send anything questionable, double-check the official USPS restricted items list. The last thing you want is your package disappearing into postal limbo while you wonder where your snacks went. Or worse, receiving a hefty fine or even a court date.
