A Galaxy Far, Far Away (And 21+): The Discovery Center’s Epic May 4th Plan

It's fun to watch as Amarillo gets behind different celebrations. I mean, we know there is a National Day for just about anything. If you want to celebrate it, there is a day, just look it up. It's there.

One day that has more recently become popular is Star Wars Day. While fans have celebrated for decades, it truly hit the mainstream around 2011. I looked it up. That is when it started to become recognizably known. Here we are, and everyone now associates May 4 as Star Wars Day.

You will hear "May the 4th be with you" several times that day, I am sure. So places tend to celebrate it as well. We have grand openings that tie in well with the date. We have movie events.

An Adults-Only Atmosphere: No Padawans Allowed

The Discovery Center has chosen this date to have its next 21+ movie night. They had one back in February for Valentine's Day and showed "13 Going on 30". Now appropriately, they are having one for Star Wars Day.

Whether you’re celebrating with the Leia to your Han, your band of rebels, or flying Solo, enjoy an adults-only evening at the Discovery Center with our specialty cocktail, a spaceship-like atmosphere, and an on-screen classic in our Space Theater.

Grab a beverage from the bar, buckle up, and enjoy a screening of Return of the Jedi in a fun, adults-only atmosphere.

Ticket Options: General Admission vs. The Concessions Wristband

You can get a general admission ticket for just $10, or you can get the $25 concessions wristband that also gets you unlimited themed drinks and popcorn all night long. If you opt for the general admission ticket, there is still an opportunity to purchase popcorn and snacks a la carte.

Specialty Cocktails: Why the Upgrade is Worth It

The wristband is required to enjoy any of the specialty cocktails. You cannot purchase those individually. This is where I think the upgraded ticket is definitely worth it if you want to enjoy a drink or two.
