Three Things You MUST Do In Amarillo This Weekend

· NewsTalk 1290

This weekend in Amarillo is going to be an absolutely perfect one when it comes to weather. The mid-80s on Saturday and a nice cool mid-60s prediction for Sunday. Yes, there is a chance of rain in the forecast on both days, but you can't beat the weather.

Fortunately, there are a lot of different activities going on in Amarillo this weekend where you can take advantage of the weather, and these are a few of the ones you'll want to hop on.

AMARILLO TRI-STATE FAIR

If you haven't already made your way to the fairgrounds, you're going to have to do it this weekend or you'll be waiting until next year to enjoy all the different festivities and fun. The PRCA Rodeo got underway last night and it'll run through Saturday, September 21, so you won't want to miss that.

There's way more than just the rodeo to enjoy though. The livestock exhibits are always a big hit, the petting zoo is back of course, and yes, all the rides and carnival food you can stuff your face with. Saturday will bring the Military Salute which also comes with free admission for all active military members and veterans with your military ID.

More info on all the events happening this weekend can be found at the Tri-State Fair website.

MAXWELL'S FALL FESTIVAL

You know it's officially fall in Amarillo when Maxwell's opens their doors, and with temps in the 60's on Sunday for the first day of fall, the weather has certainly cooperated in that sense. This is the first weekend Maxwell's will have their doors open, and if you've never been, you're missing out.

The Sasquatch Paintball Gallery is back this year, and that was one of the best additions there in the last couple of years. Yes, the pumpkin patch will be open and full of pumpkins for you to choose from. All the favorites such as the apple cannons and giant corn maze are back for your enjoyment as well.

Tickets are available at the Maxwell's website, or at the door as well.

LONE STAR REPTILE EXPO

This one isn't for everyone admittedly, but I can almost guarantee my oldest child will be bugging me to go. Happening at the Amarillo Civic Center, the Lone Star Reptile Expo always brings some incredible creatures for you to see, and yes, even touch should you so choose to.

A large selection of every reptile you can think of will be on display, from frogs to snakes, to toads and lizards, you'll see different ones from all over the world. They'll even have other kinds of animals from all over the world including insects and mice.

You can get more info by hitting up the Lone Star Reptile Expo website.
