Hospital group says it knew nothing about Bergen doctor's alleged child sex abuse

The hospital where the 66-year-old man who is accused of sexually abusing Filipino children worked says that it did not know about the allegations and first heard about this in the media. The Northwest Hospital Group, which has affiliations in Alkmaar and Den Helder, is “shocked and appalled” by the allegations.

The anesthesiologist from Bergen, Noord-Holland has been accused by the Public Prosecution Service (OM) of sexually abusing four Filipino children. The youngest victim was three years old. The first hearing in the case was held on Tuesday; the man had been arrested in May.

The anesthesiologists also knew nothing about the allegations, the hospital said. The man resigned of his own accord. The hospital knew that his absence and departure “were connected to private circumstances, which were separate from the care and his work as a doctor at Northwest.”

There are no signals within Northwest that any other connection with the allegations exists. It also emphasizes that anesthesiologists always work collaboratively as part of a medical team when treating patients.
