Thermometer to rise from 22°C today to 26°C tomorrow before cooling off from Thursday

Unusually high temperatures for this time of year are expected this week, before rain showers will push the hot air out by midweek, with a possibility of thunderstorms. On Monday, the Netherlands is waking up to the temperatures of around 22 degrees Celsius, which are set to rise to 25 on Tuesday, Weeronline reports.

On Monday, Limburg specifically could see temperatures of up to 25 degrees. On Tuesday, however, this measurement is set to be applicable for the large part of the country, with local readings of up to 30 degrees possible. Wednesday is likely to stay hot.

This is unusual for late September. De Bilt, where the national measures are taken, has never recorded 25 degrees on the last September days. This means that several weather records could potentially be broken.

On Wednesday evening showers are set to come in from the west, pushing out the hot air. That night thunderstorms will also be possible. After that, the rest of the week is expected to be mild with temperature highs of around 20 degrees. Thursday will be the most rainy and cloudy, the weather service said.
