Spring returns: The Netherlands to see sunshine and mild temperatures this week

The Netherlands is experiencing a return to dry and sunny conditions this week after a period of variable weather, with temperatures rising above seasonal averages. Meteorologists at weeronline note that a few showers and strong winds remain in some regions, but overall conditions favor outdoor activities.

Earlier today, regional showers occurred, particularly inland, while the west saw dry weather and sunshine. Some showers brought hail or thunder. Forecasters reported strong winds in many areas, warning cyclists to expect gusts. By mid-morning, most showers had moved eastward, and conditions became drier across the country.

This afternoon, the far eastern provinces may still see isolated showers, which are expected to move quickly into Germany. Elsewhere, dry and fairly sunny conditions prevail, with temperatures reaching 8–10 degrees. Despite the sunshine, a strong west wind makes it feel cooler.

Evening and overnight conditions will feature increasing cloud cover. Initial clear skies in the northeast will allow temperatures to drop to just above freezing, but cloud cover moving in from the west will gradually raise temperatures. Light rain may occur in some areas overnight, with temperatures rising to 5 degrees in the east and 9 degrees along the coast.

Tuesday begins with gray skies and rain in the eastern provinces. The western regions will start dry but cloudy. Rain in the east will exit to Germany by mid-morning, and the rest of the day will be dry nationwide. Afternoon skies will clear from the southwest, bringing occasional sunshine, though the east and northeast will remain overcast. Temperatures will range from 11 degrees under clouds in the northeast to 16 degrees in sunny Zeeland, with a moderate southwest wind.

Wednesday will bring full spring conditions, with widespread sunshine and dry weather. Light cirrus clouds may appear in some areas. Winds will be gentle to moderate, coming from the east to southeast. Temperatures will rise well above seasonal norms, reaching 14–17 degrees, compared with the usual 9–11 degrees. Conditions will be ideal for outdoor activities such as cycling or visiting terraces.

Thursday will maintain the sunny and mild pattern. Temperatures are expected to reach 15 degrees or higher inland, with light winds from the east.

Looking ahead, the remainder of the week will stay dry with abundant sunshine. Winds from the east will gradually bring slightly cooler air, with daytime temperatures of 10–13 degrees and nighttime lows approaching freezing.
