No trains to and from Amsterdam Centraal on Saturday; Fewer on Sunday and Monday

No trains are running on Saturday to or from Amsterdam Centraal, Pro Rail reports. Fewer trains are expected on Sunday and Monday.

ProRail is busy widening and lengthening platforms and stairways at the station, as well as widening the Oosttunnel, among other projects. According to the company, the modifications are needed in order to cope with the constantly growing number of passengers. The station welcomes around 200,000 passengers a day, with the number expected to rise to 275,000 a day.

NS advises travellers to take the metro on Saturday or an NS replacement bus at night. The work at and around the station is reportedly also set to affect international routes to Brussels, Paris, Berlin, London, Cologne, Hannover, and Frankfurt, the rail infrastructure manager said.

“Expect extra transfers and longer travel times,” ProRail said earlier. “Plan your trip ahead of time.”
